I am a 43 year old female living in The Woodlands, TX. I am married. We have two young boys and two large dogs. I love art — all kinds — but especially filmmaking. Work as a freelance writer and preschool teacher at one of my son’s schools. Love gardening, watching films, reading fiction and travelling. Love spending time at parks with kids and the dogs.
Noticed after my second child in 2009 my weight gain seemed to be in different places. I was gaining weight even while breastfeeding! I attributed this to aging/having a baby at an older age, etc. I now weight 248 pounds. I am 5′ 3″. No big Texas style hairdo is large enough to help my inappropriate proportions. I look and feel awful.
in 2010 I had my gall bladder removed. In 2011 I had a knee meniscus tear repaired. I was getting tired all the time. But when you have two kids who isn’t tired. I would often fall asleep in the carline waiting to pick up my kids and awaken only when the parent behind me would wail on their horn!!!!! And this is how it was for a few years.
About a year ago I started having intense night sweats, itching all over without a rash, some white colored nipple discharge, back pain and one incidence of incontinence (at a book store with my kids! Good fun!). OBGYN blew me off. GP ran some tests, but nothing conclusive. ENT discovered I was allergic to some foods and many weeds, grasses and molds. I never had allergies before. I started my allergy drops. The itching stopped. The other symptoms disappeared as fast as they came on. So life went on and then…
5/2013: vision disturbance, sudden onset of headaches and extreme fatigue landed me in doctor’s office
5/2013: diagnosed with TMJ, obstructed sleep apnea. Headache position changed and neck pain started. Large buffalo hump. Dr. mentioned Cushing’s, but she needed to rule out spinal/neck issues first and wanted to see about the sleep apnea (I adore my GP and am grateful to her for saying the words Cushing’s/Buffalo hump, etc. out loud).
6/2013: off of this website I learned to seek out a specialist and found neurosurgeon in nearby Houston
6/2013: spinal/buffalo hump MRI: results pending
6/2013: blood testing results pending
awaiting to see if I should proceed with urine sample process as menstruation began today (suppossed to do test on Sunday for Monday delivery back to lab)
6/2013: awaiting pituitary MRI scheduling with new doctor
